New Year Message from Stripy Lightbulb CIC’s Founder and Managing Director, Sally Callow.
Hi All,
Firstly, Happy New Year!
Secondly, I am hoping that 2024 is a year of positive change for the M.E./C.F.S. community, Stripy Lightbulb CIC may be a micro-entity social enterprise but we have big plans for the future. I would be very happy to talk to representatives of any organisations that offer services that could benefit people with M.E./C.F.S.
People living with M.E./C.F.S are often excluded from a variety of services because not enough is known about the disease. Service providers may not realise that M.E/C.F.S patients could benefit from their particular service. One example would be palliative-style care. It is not routinely offered to M.E./C.F.S patients who are at the severe/very severe end of the M.E/C.F.S spectrum and very sick, and often desperate, patients have to advocate for themselves to get adequate/appropriate care. M.E./C.F.S patients who are house or bedbound are mostly excluded from cancer screening services (when tests only available in hospital settings), and it is rare for these same patients to be offered routine testing for heart issues, diabetes etc if they are unable to attend appointments. Yet cardiovascular disease is one of the biggest causes of death within our community.
These are just 3 examples of exclusion from a very long list.
2024 is the Stripy Lightbulb CIC ‘Year of Inclusion’.
We would like to work with other organisations to open up access to services that M.E./C.F.S. patients have historically been excluded from.
If you are unsure what M.E./C.F.S is, Stripy Lightbulb CIC is an online training company that trains professionals on what M.E./C.F.S is. Ask questions, I’d be very happy to answer them 🙂
Please get in touch if you want to work with me/Stripy Lightbulb CIC.
