We know many UK mainstream schools are cash-strapped. However, financial hardship does not reduce the need for training on M.E./C.F.S.

That’s why we’ve created the ‘Light UP: Schools Initiative’.

Light UP: Schools Initiative

We are creating a database for schools to sign up to if they would like the training but can’t afford it. By signing up they would have the opportunity to have two free training ‘seats’. One ‘seat’ for the head teacher and one ‘seat’ for the SEN teacher. Both of whom make key decisions about the child’s schooling.

The cost for two ‘seats’ on our online training course is £178.

Schools

If your school is in financial difficulties but appreciates the need for M.E./C.F.S. training please sign up to the initiative and be in with a chance of having your CPD accredited training sponsored by businesses. You will receive two ‘seats’ for our education-specific e-training course. One for the Head Teacher and one for the SEN teacher in your school.

Why Does the Education Sector need M.E./C.F.S. Training?

  • 25,000 children and young adults have M.E./C.F.S. in the UK;
  • The above situation will be replicated worldwide but the statistics are not available due to a lack of research;
  • Many students are ‘dropping out’ or being expelled from school due to schools not understanding the nature of the condition or how to support M.E./C.F.S. patients within a learning environment;
  • M.E./C.F.S. affected -students are often not meeting their potential due to a lack of adequate support from education professionals;
  • Parents often have to pay for independent home-schooling due to the lack of support;
  • SEN support is not adequate for M.E./C.F.S. patients as it doesn’t cater for the unique aspects of the condition.

Special Educational Needs (S.E.N) are under-funded in schools. That’s why we need your help to train educational professionals.

Lack of school S.E.N. funding does not reduce the need for M.E./C.F.S. training.

FAQs

What is the Light Up: Schools Initiative and why should my business sign up?

By signing up to the scheme and sponsoring a school to do our e-training, you will be providing training for the headteacher and the SEN teacher in a school that has signed up to the scheme. Both of whom make important decisions regarding the M.E./C.F.S.-affected student’s education.

Why would my business sponsor a school?

You are helping children and young adults to meet their potential.

Can my business specify a particular school or region?

You can specify a particular school or region if you wish but schools must have signed up to the Initiative.

What’s in it for my business?

These children and young adults are potentially your future employees. Help them to reach their potential in terms of their education. In return, you will receive promotion from Stripy Lightbulb CIC. We will have a section on our website to highlight the businesses who helped us to tackle the global health crisis with education.

Can any business sign up?

YES! Small businesses to large corporates can sign up to our Initiative. Location is also not an issue, the lack of education is a global crisis. Our training can be undertaken anywhere around the globe.

Will the business be told which school we have sponsored?

Not necessarily, but if you would like to know then that could be arranged.

Can anyone else or an organisation/group sponsor a school?

Parents of M.E./C.F.S patients or members of the public can also sign up to sponsor a school – email [email protected] for information.
